With so many diets out there, it can be difficult to choose one that will be right for you. You want to be sure that you are not cutting back so much on essential nutrients but at the same time you do not want to loose weight so slowly that you cant see results for weeks.
One of the most popular fad diets is the Cabbage Soup Diet. This diet has been around for quite a long time where some of the other fad diets have disappeared rather fast.
To know if this is the right diet for you, you need to know exactly what it is and what it will do for you. This is a good diet if you are looking to drop a few pounds fast such as for an event or special occasion.
This is not a recommended diet for long term weight loss as the daily calorie intake is extremely low.
The diet gives you a recipe for a vegetable soup that has its main staple as cabbage.
While the soup is very tasty, it will have you heading to the bathroom quite frequently. It will flush the excess water weight from your body fast so you need to make sure that you keep your potassium level up.
This is a seven day diet plan and each day you are kept to eating certain foods. Day one you are allowed to eat only fruits (with the exception of bananas).
You can have black coffee or tea that is unsweetened as well as cranberry juice and water. You can also have as much of the cabbage soup as you want all day long.
On day two you area allow to eat all of the fresh vegetables you want. You can eat them raw or cooked but you cannot have potatoes. You can of course, have as much of the soup as you want. Day three allows you to combine the foods from day 1 and day 2.
You still have to avoid potatoes but you can have as much of the soup as you want throughout the day.
Day four is a bit different as you are required to eat up to eight bananas through out the day and as many glasses of skim milk as you want.
You can also have the soup any time you want. This is the day that they say will take away your cravings for sweets. Day five is your meat day. You can have a total of 10 to 20 ounces of meat and up to six tomatoes.
You need to drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water today to flush out the uric acid in your body. You need to have your soup at least once today.
Day six you are allowed to eat both vegetables and beef. You can have up to three steaks but again avoid potatoes.
Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day. Your final day on the diet allows you to have all of the brown rice you want as well as unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. You need to have the soup at least once and you can have no bread, carbonated beverages or alcohol.
