Let's face it, every diet come with its own list of what is ok to eat and what is not ok to eat. Each and every diet claims that it will help you the best and that you will loose the most weight with it.

The truth is that there any many foods that many people should avoid or have in moderation to help maintain a healthy life style. We should all know that fried foods are not good for anyone. They are saturated in fat and can cause arteries to clog.

That alone can lead to so many different health problems such as diabetes, stoke and even heart problems. You need to be aware of what you are putting into your body. 

Junk food and many fast foods are also known as being unhealthy but people still flock to get that greasy cheese burger as it is ready when you want it. Other junk foods that should be limited would be potato chips and other snacks as such.

These are very high in sodium and too much sodium (salt) can cause a person to retain a great deal of unwanted water weight. Many people will find if they follow a low calorie or low fat diet and cut back on their sodium intake they will shed pounds effortlessly.

You want to be sure that you do not go to low with your calorie intake as it can be harmful to your health. You want to watch your portion control as many people tend to over eat and not even realize it.

Eating out at a restaurant is one of the easy ways to over eat as the portions that they give to people are generally much larger then the recommended portion size. 

There are a few tricks that you try to help you eat smaller portions. When you are at home you can eat your meals on a smaller plate. This forces you to eat smaller portions and will help you feel like your not being deprived.

It also helps to measure your portions if you are on a diet that allows you to have certain amounts of food such as 4 ounces of meat for lunch. When eating out it helps to ask for a to-go box when you order your food.

When the meal arrives, promptly put ½ of the meal into the box and save it for later. Breads and starchy foods should also be eaten in moderation as they can help to pack on the pounds.

You may want to opt for whole grain breads and if you choose to eat such things as baked potatoes, you should try to stay away from loading them with all the extras such as cheese, butter, bacon and sour cream. 

Try to keep your pantry stocked with foods that are healthy such as fresh fruits and vegetables. It you are going to go with fresh fruits go with the sweeter fruits in the morning hours and the fruits with fiber such as apples in the later part of the day to help fill you up.
